A Figure Made of Words

About the work

A round head sits above a narrow body divided into several uneven sections. Handwritten words run down its length, while the arms extend almost across the entire sheet. Small circles mark joints along the lines; the hands hang down and the feet turn outwards. Two little houses and a circle with short rays appear above the looping features.

A fine grey line gives letters, figure and surrounding signs equal weight. The writing consequently reads both as language and as part of the drawing. Large blank areas emphasise the disproportion between the small body and long arms, while the lower horizontal line steadies the scattered elements.
