Double Gaze

About the work

Long flowing lines describe a face. A soft grey trace beside them repeats and slightly displaces the main contour. The eyes are barely open, and an extended curve of the nose connects the upper and lower parts of the image.

The slight mismatch between lines suggests a turning head. Rather than a single definite outline, the viewer sees several closely related positions. The economical drawing stays light, with grey passages adding spatial depth.
