About the work

A narrow rectangular drawing is divided into several unequal tiers. Small circles at the top connect through horizontal lines and an upright; below come short parallel bars and a row of hanging circles. The largest ring occupies the lower half and intersects straight segments. Small dots, isolated nodes and open corners remain along the edges.

Reading begins with the familiar order of a diagram, then slows: connections do not explain the signs but offer different routes for the eye. The large lower circle balances the fragmented upper section. Occasional diagonals depart from the mainly rectangular grid, making it less rigid. Small breaks in the lines matter too, preserving the lightness of a hand-drawn structure even as its arrangement suggests a system of communicating parts.
