About the work

A narrow standing figure leans slightly away from the vertical. A black hat and tilted head draw attention to the upper section; below, dark clothing edges surround an elongated reddish patch. The arms hang down, the feet turn apart, and short horizontal marks beneath them suggest support. The pinkish-grey field is uneven, and its rough pattern continues into parts of the silhouette.

The human image emerges from a few stable clues: hat, shoulder line, long clothing and small feet. Other boundaries soften and seem to disperse into short touches. The contrast between the heavy dark head and the elongated, lighter body is especially expressive. The inclination does not develop into a step: the figure remains in place, with movement concentrated in the head's slight displacement from the main upright.
