About the work

Red and black lines rise from a dense lower band towards large forms near the top of the sheet. Circles, pointed projections and fragments of faces connect through long angular outlines. Red identifies several distinct passages, while black hatching gathers the middle into a tight junction. Pale openings keep individual directions visible within the tangle.

The vertical composition resembles a section through a complex structure: numerous small elements concentrate below, while larger forms open out above. At the same time, eyes, profiles and handlike shapes retain a connection with the human figure. The title Heart of the City brings these observations together, allowing the dense centre to be read as a meeting place for many lines and movements.
