About the work

Two pale face-like forms sit above a broad red band. The left rises on a thin stem from a spotted cylinder, its features enclosed by a dotted border. The much larger right form tilts downward, its outline broken by pointed leaf-like projections. Broad curved marks fill the blue ground, punctuated by short red diagonals. A small angular building on the left completes the lower boundary.

Fine internal drawing and active surrounding colour keep the white forms clear. The red base gives them shared support despite differences of scale and placement. Dots on the left oppose sharp notches on the right. Attention moves between these contrasting patterns, returning through repeated red strokes across the blue field.
