Creatures on a Dark Arc

About the work

A dark curved band descends through the sheet, combining dense hatching with a small face at its upper bend. Long-beaked creatures, a round flower on a stem, radiating discs and fine branches occupy either side. Their outlines have similar weight, but the internal marks vary: dots, loops, crossbars and wavy rows establish several distinct rhythms within the flat field.

The heavy arc directs the main movement, while smaller signs repeatedly draw the eye aside. White intervals keep each silhouette legible even where motifs converge. Round eyes recur in flowers and discs, connecting plant and figure through the drawing itself, without a consistent scale or shared horizon.
