Crossing Figures

About the work

Two elongated figures cross at nearly a right angle: one stands centrally, while the other extends across the sheet with its head raised on the right. Long arms and legs form a thin rectangular framework. Round faces, tiny walking figures, arrows and a row of flowers surround it. The central figure is distinguished by its continuous vertical silhouette and long strands of hair rather than shading.

The flower line separates the lower faces from the main crossing. Repeated small heads establish a measured rhythm against the sharp changes of scale. The pale bodies remain part of the open field, becoming characters through just a few details. Firm directions and loose contours make their static arrangement feel precarious.
