Face on a Long Axis

About the work

Two round eyes and angular facial features gather around a fine vertical in the upper composition. Broad loops pass above; below, long arcs with irregular ends cross the axis. Several short tangles form a dense central knot before the lines lengthen and spread again towards the bottom. Large areas of paper remain empty on either side.

The drawing develops in tiers, each horizontal branch changing its reach and height without exact repetition. Handwriting-like passages alternate with clearly outlined eyes and profiles. This distinction maintains a figurative presence within the loose linear structure. Fine contours make small concentrations of marks and abrupt changes of direction especially visible.
