Figure in an Oval Loop

About the work

A large elongated oval occupies the centre, narrowing towards a lower intersection. Loops, angular profiles and small rounded contours gather above it. Fine branches spread sideways, sometimes suggesting hands with indicated fingers. Below, a long line descends into a loose loop at the base; most of the lower half remains pale and empty.

The composition depends on the sharp difference between its active upper section and the extended blank space inside the oval. Lines do not fix a single silhouette: adjacent contours meet and separate, allowing several readings of the figure. Without dense patches, spacing between fine marks, flowing curves and occasional sharp bends carry the expression.
