Figure Among Arcs

About the work

A figure with a round head and closed, hatched eyes stands among broad curving bands. Fine horizontals divide its straight torso, and its feet rest on a large oval below. Small faces and short extensions repeat along the arcs; dense branching patterns fill strips between them. Several larger heads overlap on the right.

A fine grey line connects figure and ground without isolating the character through a heavy outline. Overlapping contours and changes of scale suggest depth in place of tonal shadow. Empty bands alternate with close hatching, establishing a rhythm that continues beyond the visible fragment. The central figure remains still within this layered linear setting.
