Three Faces beside the Steps

About the work

Three closely grouped faces stand at the centre: a tall elongated one between two smaller heads. Their contours continue into a long shared figure punctuated by several heavy black accents. Rectangular and stepped forms accumulate on the right; a narrow upright sign stands separately on the left. Fine horizontals cross the open areas, with broad, unclosed lines extending above the heads.

The arrangement depends on the difference between the flowing human outline and the broken geometry of the right-hand group. Pale space around the faces makes their closeness visible before attention shifts to the many crosspieces. The small left vertical maintains balance. Shared outlines allow the heads to read both as separate characters and as one compact group against a schematic architectural setting.
