Vertical Black Splashes

About the work

An elongated cluster of black lines, blots and fine splashes occupies pale paper. An arc of parallel strokes bounds it at the upper left, while a narrow vertical rises on the right. Fine crossings meet dense patches in the middle, with short drips hanging below. Several long horizontals extend rightwards, well beyond the main cluster.

Different ink marks produce different viewing rhythms: large black areas hold attention, while small dots lead towards the margins. Open paper to the right and below carries weight beside the dense centre. The abstract composition depends on clear differences in line thickness, blot size and the spacing between marks.
