Crossing Elongated Contours

About the work

Several elongated forms spread from the middle of the sheet: a broad vertical occupies the left, while long pointed contours rise towards the upper right. Faces, short zigzags, loops and repeated outlines surround them. The lower area is particularly dense, with separate heads nearly merging into the movement of the line. Large unfilled interiors contrast with the fragmented drawing around them.

The line continually changes function, describing a profile, becoming a flourish and returning to a figure. Repeated crossings create dark local knots without broad fills. Diagonals accelerate attention upward to the right, while lower loops bring it back. Differences in density keep the long pale forms distinct within their restless linear surroundings.
