About the work

An angular profile is assembled from straight outlines and dense black strokes. The head tilts, with long lines continuing down towards the right. Rectangular projections above and below surround a broad unfilled area. Small breaks and isolated marks indicate facial features without enclosing them in a conventional oval. The heaviest passage lies on the left, where broad bands intersect at sharp angles.

White space inside the head functions as a shape defined by adjacent black areas. Long diagonals stretch the silhouette, while short cross-strokes interrupt their movement. A face emerges at the threshold between recognition and geometric construction. The dense left-hand cluster and sparse lines on the right give the composition its decisive slant.
