Black Figure with Branches

About the work

A tall black structure occupies the middle of a vertical sheet. A round face on the right joins a long axis, with bent, almost rectangular forms attached on the left. At the top, a raised branch disperses into many tiny marks. Another rounded creature extends towards the lower right, while a miniature group of finely drawn characters sits near the base. A single wavy horizontal passes behind the main mass.

Heavy filled areas alternate with large white openings and sharp projections, making the silhouette a system of gestures and branches. The small lower group stresses its scale. Scattered upper marks gradually reduce the density of black, moving attention from solid shape towards separate touches and open paper.
