Map of Growth

About the work

A rounded form is filled with cells, loops and short crossbars. Small branches extend beyond its irregular edge, with a slender axis continuing below. The silhouette recalls a crown of foliage, while its interior resembles a complex diagram.

The contrast between the whole outline and detailed drawing establishes two scales of viewing. From a distance, an organic form appears; close up, numerous local connections become visible. The title brings these levels together through the idea of growth as structure.
