About the work
Two figures join hands and turn slightly towards one another. A dove in Peter’s palm complements the central gesture. Flowing folds connect their silhouettes, while differences in the positions of heads and hands preserve each figure’s individuality.
At 2.3 metres tall, the figures remain legible on a human scale through the closeness and coordination of their poses. Patinated copper softens the transitions of light across the surface, and the granite pedestal gives the group a clear foundation.
The composition opened in 2019 in the park beside the church in Purpe. The figures were formed from M1 sheet copper over a mould, copper-welded and patinated. The pedestal is made from Yuzhno-Sultayevsky granite; total height including the base is 3 metres.
