About the work
A rotunda, the Flower and a rings composition establish recognisable points within the wooded park. The pale colonnade stands against vertical tree trunks, while rounded metal forms introduce freer lines into their rhythm.
The ensemble accommodates walking, pauses and ceremonies. Open stretches of woodland remain between the objects, allowing each to be read separately. Its artistic organisation rests on the relationship between architectural geometry and the natural setting.
The work was completed in 2022 as part of the improvement of Kedrovy Log Park. Sergey Sokolkov designed and realised the wedding route’s artistic objects: the rotunda, the flower sculpture and the rings composition. The rotunda is made of architectural concrete; the objects are metal with an artist’s finish, while timber benches and paths complete the route. The park forms part of Surgut’s wider public-space renewal, in which a rotunda and art objects for commemorative photographs were specifically planned for the wedding route.
