About the work

A pale profile, a hand and a small bird can be discerned within blue and pinkish ochre. A rectangular opening is suggested further back. These elements have different degrees of definition: some hold the eye, while others nearly merge with the ground.

Soft colour transitions connect figure and setting. The more clearly stated hand anchors the composition, while the architectural motif adds depth. The image develops through small differences between recognisable objects and open areas of colour.
