About the work
Deep blue water occupies most of this small landscape. A tree leans over it from the right; green and pale strokes in its crown echo the grass on the near bank. The dark trunk anchors the composition, while short brushmarks in different directions suggest moving leaves.
Within a 20 × 15 cm format, the artist distinguishes the close foreground from the open water beyond. Saturated blue gives the greens a particular freshness and lends the study its intensity.
