Red Profile by the Window

About the work

A dark red profile occupies the left half of the composition, facing right. Forehead, nose, lips and chin form a continuous silhouette with few distinct features inside it. The greenish field on the right is divided by vertical blue bands and a small yellow rectangle. Uneven paint coverage allows lighter worn passages to show through, while the head’s edge occasionally softens.

The main tension lies between the rounded human contour and the rectangular background. Yellow at face level draws attention rightward across a substantial gap. The warm red mass appears closer than the cool verticals. Minimal portrait detail makes direction immediately legible; distance from the coloured rectangle and varying surface density determine the image’s internal structure.
