About the work
A reddish circle with a white rim sits left of centre. Uneven rings spread around it, overlaid with small rectangular forms, fine lines and pale loops. Yellow, green, ochre and brown passages press closely together. The larger circular movement remains visible even where the surface breaks into numerous individual marks.
The displaced centre prevents the structure from settling into a static target. On the right, the rings have more room to expand and meet angular elements; on the left, the movement is compressed. Up close, the eye repeatedly changes direction between a curve and a short rectangular segment. Geometric order meets an irregular surface rhythm. Colour sustains the difference: dense warm passages alternate with cool openings without establishing a separate background.
