About the work
A narrow horizontal landscape is surrounded by saturated red. Within it, dark lines and runs of paint cross ochre and reddish layers. The horizon stretches across the canvas, but spatial depth is compressed, drawing attention back to the painted surface.
The three words of the title connect the image with land, resources and human life. They do not become a literal narrative. Instead, their relationship is expressed through the contrast of red and black, broken lines and dense bands of colour.
