Portrait No. 7

About the work

Round eyes sit at different heights, surrounded by fans of black strokes. A narrow central section of the face extends between them. Blue and greenish passages show through the dark drawing, while the background is reduced to a margin around the head.

Altered proportions intensify the gaze. Lines both describe and fragment the features, preventing the face from settling into a fixed scheme. The head’s large scale within a small format makes its proximity particularly palpable.
